Who is it for
If you are a mature student with the ambition to go to university but lack the level 3
qualifications, an Access to Higher Education course is a fantastic solution.
The Access to Higher Education course is a 1–year full–time course specifically for motivated individuals aged 19 and over who wish to go on to study a degree, progress in their career, or simply extend their knowledge after being out of formal education for some time.
Interview Skills Assessment
You will be required to attend a Welcome Event, details will be provided upon application.
What will I need
Students will need GCSE English and Maths at grade A*/9 – C/4 to enter the Access to Higher Education Computing.
What is covered
The Computing course offers a range of applied computing related subjects with a strong practical element, ideal for people who want to progress into a computer–based career. Subjects studied include web design and production, database design
and production, emerging and control systems technology, programming, applications of computing and information systems in a business environment. You will also be trained in study skills and general computer applications to help you make the most of your time on the course and to become an effective undergraduate at university.
How is the course assessed
You will be assessed in a variety of ways including formal presentation skills.
What can this course lead to
The CAVA Access Diploma is QAA recognised and is accepted by UK universities as a standard entry qualification for degree courses. Each Access Diploma is designed to offer you the chance to return to study and prepare yourself for degree study.
After completing this Access course you can go onto degree level study in Computing and Information Systems and Computer Science.
