Health and Wellbeing
The College Wellbeing Centre provides a whole range of services to provide support for you while you are studying. The team leads the Respect Campaign within College and help with Council Tax exemption applications and certificates, EMA queries and advice on all sorts of other help and support.
College Nurse
Eleanor Allenby is the College Nurse. She provides confidential health
care and advice to all students as and when required, and arranges health
promotion events. Eleanor also helps with health promotion clinics covering:
- Weight Control
- Quitting smoking
- Blood Pressure
- Sexual Health
- Chlamydia Screening and C Card (condom) distribution
- First Aid and Emergency care
Any student requiring medical care will be treated as quickly as possible with priority given to emergencies. Eleanor is supported by a team of trained first aiders. Anyone with a medical problem should arrange to see Eleanor at the start of their course. All matters are treated with total confidentiality.
Counselling
Cherry Stewart is the College Counsellor
and offers professional confidential counselling for students by
appointment and through drop-in sessions. Cherry helps
with:
- stress management and relaxation techniques
- individual coaching sessions
- information and signposting to other sources of help or advice
- confidential group work
- tutorial sessions about stress management/exam stress, self-esteem and confidence, assertiveness, communication and body language, anti-bullying and effective anger management.
Learner Involvement & Diversity Advisor
Mohammed Sarfraz is the Learner Involvement & Diversity Advisor
and he is based in Room 83. Mohammed helps with
- Day to day equal opportunities issues
- Support and advice to students and staff on equal opportunities and community issues
- Student Union activities
- Tutorials on equality and diversity and community issues
- Interpreting in South Asian languages( Urdu, Punjabi, Mirpuri)
- One to one mentoring
- Promoting respect within College
Welfare Advisor
The College Welfare, Mary Hamilton, helps with:
- Advising students in claiming external sources of funding and gives advice about eligibility criteria
- Provides guidance to students on entitlement to and claiming welfare benefits and taxt credits
- Assists students in accessing help from outside agencies regarding housing, welfare benefits, student finance and other outside sources of funding
- Liaising with relevant sections of the College in matters relating to student welfare and finances
- Offers tutorials on budgeting and money management

Careers Officer
Tanis Paulin is the College Careers Officer and she helps with
- All aspects of careers advice and guidance
- Information about university applications
- Advice on looking for a job
- Information and advise on CV writing and interview skills
- Help with UCAS information and applications
The Youth Work Team
Nick, Paul, Ian, Holly and Penny are the College
youth work team. They are here to:
- Create activities and interest groups for students
- Organise competitions and fund raising events
- Organise social and recreational activities
- Help with special tutorial subject matters
- Listen to student needs in an informal environment
- Guide students to specific staff/advice groups
- Listen to student opinions and thoughts about the College, to help improve the site
- Provide a friendly face in College
The Personal Learning Coach Team
Farzana, Liz and Shakeel are the College Personal Learning
Coach Team. They can support you with:
- Organising & planning your assignment workload
- Helping you develop your study skills
- Listening to your problems
- Helping you achieve your full potential
- Motivating you when it all seems too much
