The College Wellbeing Centre provides a whole range of services to provide support for you while you are studying. The team leads the Respect Campaign within College and helps with Council Tax exemption applications and certificates, EMA queries and advice on all sorts of other help and support.
Our Wellbeing support staff include:
College nurse - The nurse provides confidential health care and advice to all students as and when required, and arranges health promotion events. She also helps with health promotion clinics covering:
- Weight control
- Quitting smoking
- Blood pressure
- Sexual health
- Chlamydia screening and C Card (condom) distribution
- First aid and emergency care
Any student requiring medical care will be treated as quickly as possible with priority given to emergencies. The nurse is also supported by a team of trained first aiders.
Anyone with a medical problem should arrange to see the nurse at the start of their course. All matters are treated with total confidentiality.
Counselling - Our college counsellor offers professional confidential counselling for students and staff by appointment and through drop-in sessions. She helps with:
- Stress management and relaxation techniques
- Individual coaching sessions
- Information and signposting to other sources of help or advice
- Confidential group work
- Tutorial sessions about stress management/exam stress, self-esteem and confidence, assertiveness, communication and body language, anti-bullying and effective anger management.
Our Learner Involvement & Diversity Advisor helps with:
- Day to day advice and support on Equality & Diversity, policies, action plans and events
- Support for class representatives, Student Union, Student Parliament and learner involvement strategy
- Co-ordination of events and activities to promote and support Respect Campaign, community cohesion projects such as Unity Peacemakers and Diversity Day
- Tutorial input on diversity
- Information, signposting and referral to outside agencies
Multi-faith Chaplaincy - Peterborough is a richly diverse, multicultural and multi-faith city. This diversity is reflected in the make-up of learners in PRC and UCP. We want to create an environment which makes sure that members of any faith or non-believers are treated with respect, dignity and fairness and are encouraged to participate in college activities and functions.
The Multi-faith Chaplaincy team is made up of volunteers from the main faith groups in Peterborough. The team offers advice, guidance and one-to-one support on matters of faith, religion and belief. Multi-faith chaplaincy also offers group tutorial sessions on faith, beliefs and related issues.

Welfare Advisor - The College Welfare Advisor can help with:
- Advising students in claiming external sources of funding and giving advice about eligibility criteria
- Providing guidance to students on entitlement to and claiming welfare benefits and tax credits
- Assisting students in accessing help from outside agencies regarding housing, welfare benefits, student finance and other outside sources of funding
- Liaising with relevant section of the College in matters relating to student welfare and finances
- Offering tutorials on budgeting and money management

The Youth Work Team are here to:
- Create activities and interest groups for students
- Organise competitions and fund raising events
- Organise social and recreational activities
- Help with special tutorial subject matters
- Listen to student needs in an informal environment
- Guide students to specific staff/advice groups
- Listen to student opinions and thoughts about the College, to help improve the site
- Provide a friendly face in College
