College launches "Back to Work" programme
Peterborough Regional College has launched a series of short courses aimed specifically at helping people back into work. The modules concentrate on assisting individuals in looking for suitable vacancies, making successful applications and maximising their success rate at interview.
Course tutor Adam Mee explains,”We are all aware of the current economic downturn and the College wants to do all it can to assist local people who find themselves in the unfortunate position of being out of work. This series of short courses offers practical skills in the job finding process and, if all 3 modules are completed, leads to a recognised qualification. If someone has been in the same job for many years it can sometimes be the case that their skills are not fully up to date. By gaining some form of qualification it shows prospective employers that you are willing and able to adapt to new challenges”
The initiative is being supported by funding from Cambridgeshire Learning and Skills Council and the courses have been timetabled to allow them to be as easily accessible as possible, with both weekday evening and weekend options available. The courses are also being promoted in conjunction with local employers who have recognised the value of such a programme.
