Over 60's go surfing

The over 60’s are invited to attend a free day of surfing the net with Peterborough Regional College on Friday 15th May.

This fantastic initiative has been organised to tie in with the national Silver Surfers’ Day which is part of Adult Learners’ Week.  Silver Surfers’ Day is the UK’s biggest campaign to help older people get online.

The number of older people using online facilities is increasing year on year and is the fastest growing age group of internet users, which makes it hard to believe that this group of people were once thought of as the “technophobe generation”.

The free surfing day will consist of two 2 hour taster sessions which will be held at the City Learning Centre.  The sessions are aimed at the over 60’s but anybody is welcome.  The day will give people the chance to try surfing the internet, how to use email and other IT applications, as well as the opportunity to ask questions and have a look at the variety of IT courses on offer.

These sessions are running on Friday 15 May 2009 from 10am – 12 noon and 2pm –4pm at the City Learning Centre.  For more information on these sessions please call 01733 863068.
