PRC help the unemployed Step Back 2 Work
Peterborough Regional College (PRC) and Job Centre Plus are celebrating the success of a series of new training programmes for unemployed people within the Peterborough area.
Working in partnership, PRC and Job Centre Plus have launched a specialist employability programme aimed at those who have been unemployed for a period of 6 months or more and are in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance. The 3-day programme covers areas such as applying for jobs, preparing for interviews and interview skills. Additional progression courses are then offered in more specific areas such as Hospitality, Sales & Retail, Health & Social Care and Business Administration.
All of the short courses are funded by Eastern Region Learning and Skills Council and are delivered at PRC’s main site in Park Crescent.
Jane Cameron, Advisor Services Manager at Job Centre Plus Peterborough
is pleased with the success of the programme so far;
“The Step Back 2 Work Programme is a new initiative and we are really
pleased to be working in conjunction with PRC. The courses have proved
extremely popular and the feedback we have received from clients is excellent. Clients
are gaining a wealth of skills and knowledge from the courses and this is proving
invaluable in their efforts to return to employment.”
Kevin Taylor, Executive Director of Business Development at Peterborough
Regional College, is equally pleased with the launch of the new
programme;
“This is an exciting partnership for the College and the success
of the programme so far is a testimony to the expertise of our staff and our
close working relationship with Job Centre Plus. We are proud of the achievements
that our Step Back 2 Work clients have made so far and look forward to working
with many more clients in the future.”
The 3-day Step Back 2 Work programmes are currently running on
a weekly basis throughout the whole of the summer period. Sector
specific programmes are then offered at regular intervals to meet
client demand. PRC are offering Step back 2 Work programmes
until October 2010 and encourage any interested clients who are
eligible to contact their local Job Centre Plus Advisor.
