Local College backs Sir Alan
Peterborough Regional College is backing Sir Alan Sugar in his latest campaign to encourage local companies to take on Apprentices.
This week (February 23rd to 27th) is National Apprenticeship Week and Sir Alan has been appearing in a series of TV adverts which have aired over the last two weeks. To coincide with this campaign the College is holding a series of events for students illustrating the many benefits of becoming an Apprentice. The College is also contacting local businesses and has just launched its 2009/10 Apprenticeship Guide detailing the various vocational areas on offer.
Judy Preece, Training and Placement Advisor, is confident that companies will continue to take on apprentices.
“It is more important than ever that companies ensure they have employees with the skills they need to help deliver success. Training will help them through the current storm whilst also readying them for when the storm passes. Apprenticeships offer both the learner and the employer the best of all worlds, they are specialist on-the-job programmes, designed by employers for employers. They allow the Apprentice to develop their career, study nationally recognised qualifications and learn new skills - all while earning a wage. “
Peterborough Regional College have been offering Apprenticeships for many years and are now working with many of the region’s major employers. The Apprenticeship scheme at Peterborough Regional College is this year being expanded to cover the vocational areas of accountancy, health and social care and teaching assistants.
