Local College backs Sir Alan's Campaign

Peterborough Regional College, along with Sir Alan Sugar, are backing the National Apprenticeship Campaign by sending their Senior Managers back to the classroom to be apprentices’ for the afternoon.

Principal, Don Lawson, will be joining the childcare apprentices in the College Nursery where he will experience the life of an apprentice by looking after the toddlers, reading them stories or even changing nappies!!

Other Senior Managers from the College are also joining in by becoming apprentices’ in hairdressing, carpentry, bricklaying, plumbing, business and electrical installations where they will be taking on the tasks and learning the skills of that industry. The management novices will be learning  perm winding in the salons, pipe bending and soldering in the workshops and mixing mortar to then build a wall in the multi-skills centre.

This is all part of a National Apprenticeship Week (February 1st – 5th) which is led by one of the most successful businessman in the world, Sir Alan Sugar.

The College are also holding a variety of events throughout the week to support this.

The Apprenticeship Centre staff will have stands in Alexandra Foyer and the student common room where information will be available and quizzes and competitions will be on offer to raise awareness of the apprenticeship scheme and the different trades available.
