Local College Student wins Competition

Tara Pasveer, a Level 3 Music student, has won the rethinkyourmind Band Showcase competition, held at the Guildhall Leicester, after fighting off tough competition from Leicester College students.

The track was written by Tara, based on a poem ‘Morning Run’ by Romalyn Ante which was published in the rethinkyourmind 2015 Yellow Book, and was then recorded and mixed by Level 2 Music students at PRC. Judges on the day were Mark Morriss of the Bluetones, BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winning artist Lucy Ward and Suzie Brown, tour manager of Boom Town Rats and Bob Geldof.

After her win, Tara said “All the artists that performed were really inspiring. This is the start of a big adventure for me and I am really looking forward to what is coming next. I really enjoyed performing at the event as a whole and I saw that everyone there was enjoying it as well. I was surprised I won but I am really happy!”

Tara will now spend a day in the studio in Leicester and have a music video created by an internationally acclaimed body artist (Emma Fay). She will also attend a prize giving presentation at the House of Lords and have a session at the Abbey Road Studios as part of the rethinkyourmind single for next year, as well as a yellow book feature and a rethinkyourmind audio book feature.
