Entry Level Courses

Entry level courses are for students with learning difficulties and provide a caring and supportive environment in which to study.

Level 1 Qualifications

No previous qualifications or prior knowledge of the subject is needed in order to study a level 1 qualification.

Level 2 Qualifications

To study a level 2 qualification you need to already have one of the following:

  • Foundation GNVQ
  • 2 GCSE’s (A – D)
  • An Equivalent Qualification

Applicants without one of these qualifications may be accepted at the discretion of the College.

Level 3 Qualifications

To study a level 3 qualification you need to already have one of the following:

  • Intermediate GNVQ
  • 4 GCSEs (A – C)
  • An Equivalent Qualification

Applicants without one of these qualifications may be accepted at the discretion of the College.

Level 4 Qualifications

To study a level 4 qualification you need to already have one of the following:

  • Advanced GNVQ
  • 2 A Levels
  • Access Certificate
  • An Equivalent Qualification

Applicants without one of these qualifications may be accepted at the discretion of the College.

Level 5 Qualifications

To study a level 5 qualification you need to already have one of the following:

  • Degree
  • An Equivalent Qualification

Other

Some courses are not specifically at one of the above levels, but instead cover a range of levels, for example Access Courses and courses in English as a Foreign Language. Also some informal courses do not require any prior knowledge and are therefore suitable for anyone, for example Saturday Courses.

Access Courses

Access to Higher Education courses are an alternative to GCSEs and A Levels. There are no specific entry requirements but a short 'Pre Access' programme is available.
